Firo Frontier Newsletter - Vol. 2 No. 2
Firo Frontier · January 31, 2025
Firo Frontier provides a brief summary of what's been happening in Firo over the past two weeks.

Happy Lunar New Year, FiroFam!
Wishing you a year full of prosperity, good health, and financial privacy. Thank you for being part of our journey—here’s to an amazing year ahead!
Ross Ulbricht pardoned! Free Roger!
Ross Ulbricht has been granted a full pardon by Donald Trump. We have been a long time supporter of his cause and have made steady donations over the years to his legal fund. We wish him all the best in restarting his life!
We now turn our attention to one of our project’s seed investors and earliest supporters, Roger Ver who is now facing charges that may lead to a 109 years prison sentence. Do sign the letter or spread the word!
Spark Names - easy to remember addresses coming soon

Help Shape Firo’s Mining Future: Weigh In on FiroPoW’s VRAM Requirements
FiroPOW’s DAG size has now exceeded 7.7 GB, making GPUs with 8 GB of VRAM unable to mine Firo which has prompted discussions about the VRAM requirements for mining Firo. We’d like the community’s input on how to proceed.
Vote on what Firo's mining VRAM requirement should be! More info here:

It’s been 1 year since Lelantus Spark went live on the Firo mainnet!
Over the past year, we’ve seen around 100,000 Spark transactions and more than 5 million FIRO has been moved into Spark-shielded privacy pools.
Thank you, FiroFam!

Updates from the developers
The $FIRO developers continue to actively work towards having $FIRO’s infrastructure become the best privacy preserving technology in the crypto space.
Current work includes:
Spark Names - Work on this new feature continues and will allow people to be able to send and receive Firo through human readable names. Spark Names are expected to launch on testnet soon.
Spark Assets (Spats) - this feature allows all assets on the tokenization layer to share the same anonymity pool, vastly improving privacy. Work on this feature continues and is progressing well.
Spark support for newly created $FIRO coins - work continues on enabling newly created $FIRO coins (as part of the mining or Master Node rewards process) to be created as Spark assets rather than the current transparent coins - thus allowing privacy for all coins created as part of the $FIRO ecosystem.
Work required on FiroDex - With Komodo making changes to their DEX (FiroDex is based on their DEX), new seed nodes had to be added to FiroDEX to re-enable Market Maker (MM) functionality. Additional work is required and continues.
Normal Firo maintenance continues - this includes performance improvements, preparation work for implementation of new $FIRO features, and normal bug fixes.
